We had an awesome afternoon at the Tasting Room at Elgin Vintners today. The weather was threatening, but it held back from when we arrived, and the rain let go just after we packed down to head home. Besides singing along, we had a 'first' when the audience all snapped their fingers in time to a jazzy Micheal Buble' number. I've never seen this before..., what a jol! The wines at Elgin Vintners are really friggin good and well worth trying....
'Having some fun with Alice... with Murray giving new interpretations to some of the words and two groups of girls in the audience competing to be heard in the chorus. ... or was it Mary?
So, we had another great outing at Roger Orpen's Elgin Railway Market this weekend. 'Tried out some new material and made some new friends. Here's a video clip from one of the market's visitors. Enjoy our cover version of Robbie Williams's 'Angels'
A superb day in Elgin on the deck at the Elgin Vintners Tasting Room for the #CoolWine festival. Murray got into the 'swing' of things with this Michael Buble' version of Van Morrison's 'Moondance', while Brian showed that he can pull out a swing groove when it's needed. If you enjoyed that, then maybe this next Chris Isaak number will also get you into a completely chilled mood. As Arnold says.., 'We'll be back!"
December house party time in Marina da Gama. When the music gets to you..., you have no choice, 'just gotta boogie on down... ...even if the party is only starting.
It was great to be the backdrop to a Santam Insurance staff-get-together function during office hours. After months of 'remote working' the 'team' was treated to a special day by management as a thank you for holding it all together during a most challenging 2020. Doppler Effect was there to add the music to an intimate event at a stunning venue.
Our first gig since March, and it cooked. With Murray on guitar and vox, earning his first Doppler cap, we got great reviews from the stall traders and the venue patrons. The 5-star Elgin Railway Market is still one of the best venues around, just a hop, skip, and a jump over the pass from Strand. We had an excellent good afternoon, and, yes, there was dancing at the Elgin Railway Market today. I guess they just couldn't help it. Kudos to...
So, now that Doppler Effect is almost a sub-set of Tanglewood Rock Band, it's time to share the love. Tanglewood Rock Band started in 1998 with Don Ball and Murray Haysom. The band has grown over the past 22 years and along the way has collected some truly great musicians. Besides the core duo of Don & Murray, the line up includes guitar master Jock de Coito and local legend bass player, Reggie Edwards. Rounding things off on keys is Dave...
One of the most popular venues at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town is Ferryman's Restaurant & Bar, and Doppler Effect is there. After doing our first gig there on Valentine's Day last month, we were booked again for today. (It's St. Patricks week, so we will be throwing in all those Irish drinking songs as well. ) Ferryman's is a great spot to relax with a few drinks and a superb pub grub menu.
We love Blaauwklippen Family Market and today no exception. The really unique market atmosphere makes Blaauwklippen so special. This has to be the coolest Sunday market in the Winelands, with a great seating area under a really huge tree as well as lawns to spread out a picnic on. Super for family getaways, with all ages catered for. There is a wide range of stalls including where you can get almost anything, from that morning cappuccino at...
